Great gig Saturday night in St. Louis at a tiny venue called 'Pop's Blue Moon'. Yes they have Blue Moon on draft and yes it is delicious, especially in the heat. The temperature reached over 80 degrees in St. Louis while in Michigan still chills in the 60's. We met wonderful people including Pat and Paul who have redefined our standards of hospitality. Comfortable couch, incredible breakfast, and delicious coffee have been just a few of the amenities offered. So far this has been an incredible start to the tour.
Earlier in the day, we visited Abraham Lincoln's tomb in Springfield, Illinois (see picture). All of a sudden, my elementary school education came back in a wave reading about Lincoln's birth in Kentucky, his formative years in Indiana, before moving to Macon County, Illinois where he is buried. But my favorite Lincoln factoid I learned was that Lincoln held no elected office before he was elected president. He was a lawyer, a profession that would certainly keep him being elected today.

Later in the day, we played frisbee in Tower Grove Park, an enormous Victorian era park in St. Louis. The park grounds were lush and beautiful and it was populated by the most culturally diverse group of people one could expect to find anywhere. It was relaxing and invigorating.
Your face in the pic is as monotomous as your blogspot. Any emotion? You should be excited! Learning is fun! Playing frisbee rules! Thank you for blogging though, it makes me happy nonetheless. -Tammy
ReplyDeleteActually, I was trying to be all stoic and serious when standing in front of the tomb itself. That said, it does look like I'm not having a good time, which is the opposite of what I wanted to express. Learning it totally fun. Thanks for reading.
