We as a band were surprisingly efficient packers Friday. Everything was packed in approximately one hour (see tutorial for further details). Rubber hit the road around 4pm after taking some new publicity photos in downtown Grand Rapids (see pics). The shining sun and clear skies wished us safe travels along with our families that we tearfully left behind.
Much gratitude goes to our bassist Nic Cole-Klaes without whom I would not have an operating system on my new laptop. Long story short, Windows did not come pre-loaded and I was at the mercy of the tech gods. I am now whole-heartedly endorsing Linux and thanking Nic for loading it on to my computer.
Illinois Brewing Company in Bloomington, Illinois marked our first out of state gig for the tour. Despite a tiny crowd, bland micro-brewery beer, and the nastiest green room we have ever seen (see pic), the gig was a success. We played well and people were dancing.
For the record, we as a band are beer snobs...ok, I'm a beer snob. Our standards are set by the delicious beer made by nearly every Michigan micro-brewery. Not every state is fortunate to have a Bell's, Arcadia, Dark Horse, and Shorts within hours from their home let alone sold at their local grocer. But I digress.
Sleeping accommodations were provided by our friend Stephanie and her gracious roommates in Bloomington. Thank you Stephenie for the comfy couches and the delicious late night pizza.
Saturday is St. Louis, Missouri. Stay tuned for more to come.
The Northern Skies on a bridge over the Grand River. It is very windy outside (note strange hair)
My extremely white, untanned arm in a color comparison with the white paint on the bridge.
